A good friend of mine has reminded me more than once that I hadn't updated this site for many, many weeks. Where did the summer go? Memorial Day at the farm was delightful and every hour we have spent there since has been grand.
The view continues to change because of the seasons of the year and the seasons of life on the farm. The barn will disappear withe the first heavy snow fall leaving a whole in our hearts but expanding the view of the world. Change is constant. Growth needs to follow.
Fish have been caught, fires have been enjoyed and we have shared our wonderful piece of Iowa with kids, grand kids, family, and dear friends from across the country. We not only cherish the time spent, but the memories made. What a marvelous place we are able to share. And I keep reminding everyone the door is always open. It's down-home comfy and waiting for you.
We have had some uninvited visitors this summer too. A badger, a bat or two and a stray kitty who really wanted to move in. All have moved on in their lives and there will be more visitors stopping by. It is a farm!
We celebrated the end of the Corning Red Raiders and my 40th class reunion. That was a great weekend of remembering and getting together as the Class of 73. Good people who realize how important roots are.
Corning also added a Freedom Rock to its list of things to see. There will be a "rock" in every Iowa county. Ours bears witness to the 3 men who gave their all to defend America. It is definitely worth a visit.
And Johnny Carson's birth place is ready for tours! I haven't been in yet, but we will play tourist one of these days.
Probably one of the most exciting things we added to the farm was a new toaster. It is the little things in life that make me happy:)
Here are a few pictures to recap the season. As you move on in your life, don't miss the season you are in wishing for the next one to appear. Life disappears, doesn't it? Make it grand!
