Mother's Day!

Some one very dear to me, my favorite Aunt Linda, reminded me I have not updated this blog for quite a while.  So after a perfect day at the farm, I believe I am ready to share the glory of the farm once again!

The first picture says it all - everything is waiting - we just need you!  It was a top ten day - perhaps one of the few we have in a lifetime.  Temperature was perfect, just a slight breeze, calls from both of my kids, and a day spent with my wonderful husband.  We had hot dogs, chips and grapes for supper while watching the sun set and birds converse with each other.  I'm quite sure we were the topic of their chatter.  It was very hard to ignore them:)

We took down a jack-in-the-pulpit, a small oak tree from the back yard, and a variegated hosta.  Donnie got all of those in the ground and I pulled a few weeds and dead headed the iris.  There were a few thistles to chop too, so Grandpa Drennan would be proud.  I sat in the shade and quilted for the better part of the afternoon and then moved to the sun for a little color.

The snow on the mountain is taking off and filling in a hard to mow space.  And we got a plant last year for our anniversary from Steve and Sharon and it has turned into a wonderful burst of blue.  It sits next to the new butterfly box that Uncle Phillip made.  I believe we have a spot selected for an apple tree and are still looking for the perfect spot for a pear tree.

The gooseberry bush had some for the taking, so I will make my first ever gooseberry something.  If you have a favorite recipe, send it my way.  There aren't alot, but I figure I can get something made with them.

Donnie got to reflax too, and hit the pond.  He got some fish and killed a turtle.

But all that relaxing, does exactly that!  We are both tired and refreshed and tryinig to plan the next get away.

Please know, the farm is there is to be used.  So if you are needing a whole lot of nothing to do for a few days - please call and enjoy the Grand View.
