Season of Change

Fall is definitely time for change. I'm not a big fan, or not a fan at all, of 20 degree below zero weather, but God has blessed me this fall. I am enjoying the gradual cool down. Oh course, it does help that last year's fall/winter is still a very fresh memory. It will be another picture-perfect, fall day in Southwest Iowa. It would be a beautiful day to be at the farm, but responsibilities keep me in Atlantic. I do love my job and being so close to Donnie. And for the first time this week, we will get to have lunch together. It does make my day long when we don't catch up at noon.

Since this is the farm blog I probably should mention something about it! We have another man looking at the barn. We would so love to save it, but it may be beyond repair. Another opinion will tell. It is hard to destroy such a big part of Midwest history. Barns were so important - usually twice the size of farm homes. The settlers valued their livestock and crops and needed one building to meet all their needs. Some of the old barns are masterpieces. I know ours was a show piece when it was new.

But just like the seasons, the landscape changes too. We will see what changes with the barn.

With the barn or without, it is still a grand view! Come and enjoy!

  1. I love big old barns on farms. It is so hard to get them back in shape though after a little bit of weathering. Hopefully, something will work out for you. They are certainly a great symbol of farming and the Midwest.
