Deep breath! We had such a great weekend, I'm not sure where to start. One of the major projects was building a fire ring. After trips to every farm supply store (or anything that resembled one) in Corning, we found the perfect steel 1/2 barrel to bury. So we had an above ground fire in it Saturday night, and an official fire ring fire on Sunday. I think I put it in the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the sunset and the scenery. You'll have to come and have a seat and let me know what you think. It sits Northwest of the house where the chicken house was.
Donnie did lots of odd jobs, finished the weed patch, we pulled the rest of the fence posts and we now have a "aiming range".:) It got some use this weekend as did the ponds.
Some great friends came down Sunday afternoon for some fishing and franks. Madison and Morgan got to fish and Donnie showed them what fishing is all about on the farm. I think they had a good enough time they will come back soon:) I might even have some juice boxes, but I'm sure I'll have crackers for you Morgan! Thanks to Bruce, Ann, Dan, Diane, Dale, Nancy, Jason, Holly, Madison and Morgan for sharing your time with us!
The wild life was calm. All we had was a tree frog for a house guest. He cooperated nicely and while checking out the hallway allowed Donnie to scoot him outside.
I slept in and cooked (yes I did Aunt Nancy) and almost finished a Christmas gift. I had good intentions of starting some writing, but not enough time. I think I may have to take a day by myself to do that.
We squeezed in a short bike ride and a trip to the bakery (yum) and the Club for dinner. (Don't forget M.C. Grille, too!) Saw lots of people we knew and had great visits. I think that is part of what restores us. Making those connections again and remembering what life is all about. We have been truly blessed.
Donnie caught the record fish for the year (to date), a beautiful 5 lb. bass. He was rather proud! Go Donnie!
Enjoy the pics. There are more on my Picasa site.
